Mama Mia can give more commitment later on..

Negeri Di Bawah Bayu - Part 2 (24-27 July 2009)

So..on Saturday morning (25/7), Papa went to the Seminar to deliver his talk. In the meantime, after having our scrumptious breakfast (I really can give two thumbs up to the Hotel Restaurant and the chefs), we went to the swimming pool on the third floor. But in despair, we had to return to our room cos the swimming pool was closed due to cleaning and maintenance.

Chichi was so upset. Dia memang suka sgt swim, padahal every Thursday, he has his swimming lessons in the swimming pool. So, I suggested them to "swim: in the bath tub instead. Hehe. Jadilah, takder rotan, akar pun berguna. Si Nunun yg baru beli swimming suit kat Mothercare pun bukan main lagi berendam dlm bath tub. That was her first experience in the bath tub. Maklumlah..kat rumah manalah ada bath tub.

(Nunun with her newly bought swimming suit frm Mothercare)

Papa finished returned from the Seminar around 2 pm. At about 4 pm, we went out, taking a cab to Tanjung Aru Beach, about 25 minutes from our hotel. There were many bars, restaurants along side the beach. The sand was not clean, but nevertheless, the scenary was breathtaking. Hearing the sound of waves at the shore, looking at the kids playing with sand at the beach....it was a very relaxing event.

We had some bites at the stall beside the beach (actually very late lunch). We ordered roasted chicken wings, air kelapa (my God! sooo big lah the kelapa...lbh besar dpd kepala Chichi!) and ABC, (so special, got fruit cuttings on the top) and Mama had mee goreng basah with seafood (mcm tkda benda lain nk mkn..mana pergi asyik tu jer), and the others had plain rice with sotong bakar (Sabahan specialty) and Ikan Pari bakar. Yum yum....

(Chicken wings Sabah)

(ABC Sabah yg special)

After that very late lunch, we headed to the beach...strolling along the beach in the windy evening was so destressing. The kids played on the beach, making their own sand castle. While, Mama Mia, Papa and Nunun just sitting, berbual2....had a very light conversation.

There were many tourists coming at the beach too. By around 6 pm, people are getting more than before. Tourists came with big cameras...bird watchers also came, waiting for the sunset. The sunset was sooo...spectacular! Subhanallah! Undescribable. That was not my first sunset watch, but I reckon that was the best ever so far. Better and nicer than of that I watched in Pangkor last year.

We had the chance to watch almost 15 minutes of the sunset, snapped some pics. ORg2 putih pulak berebut2 ambil gambar. No wonder lah ramai yg tunggu sunset kat sini, cos rupanya mmg terkenal tmpt sunset yg indah dan mempesonakan.

Right after the sun waved goodbye, we straight away went back to our hotel. Papa was too lazy and tired to go out again, so, that nite, only Mama and the kids went to the 1 Borneo Shopping Complex, which was attached to our HOtel..keluar lift jer trus masuk shopping complex. WE bought some food utk bekalan besok at Giant, sempat lagi beli activity books for CHichi and Afafita...

Ok. End of Part 2. :)

The New Mobile

Tak tau mcm mana nk cakap

since Nunun dh pandai merangkak nie...

huh..huh...Nunun..Nunun...

Negeri Di Bawah Bayu - Part 1 (24-27 July 2009)

Segalanya tanpa dirancang. Sebenarnya, kami sekeluarga teringin sangat nk pergi holiday, rasanya, sejak Nunun lahir, mcm tak pernah lagi pergi holiday ke mana2...setakat dekat2...tak kiralah holiday.

Papa dpt jemputan jadi keynote speaker kat one big seminar di Kota Kinabalu. At first, tak terfikir nk pergi ikut, memandangkan the expenses...dan definitely out of budget. But, entahlah..agaknya dh rezeki, tetiba jer Papa insisted to bring all of us along (except our maid, of course)to KK, since we never went there, never ever!

We bought last minute Air Asia ticket to KK, isy...geramnya, bila last minute nie, habislah duit, cos the tickets were so expensive. Kalau tk silap, around Rm 400 plus per pax for a return ticket. Chichi and Afafita of course were considered "adult", luckily Non Nuha's ticket was quite cheap, about RM 60 for a return ticket. So total 5 beranak ni around RM 1800..(hah...hbs pokai mokcik ni).

Our flight was supposed to be at 6.25 pm..but we need to check in at the latest 40 minutes before. But, we arrived at the LCCT at 5.40 pm....memang last minute, terkejar2 berlari2...mcm family dlm home alone tu..dgn stroller, baggage yg banyak (pergi cuma 4 hari 3 mlm, tapi Mama Mia packed brg mcm nk pindah terus kat KK tu).

Dgn menggendong Non Nuha, Mama Mia berlari lari ke counter nk check in tu...cos takut tak dpt check in...habislah....Fhm2 jelah, Air Asia nie, dia mmg hrp sgt kita terlambat check in. But as soon as I arrived at the counter, I was told that our flight boarding time was delayed until 8 pm. Alhamdulillah....ingatkan dh tk dpt pergilah tadi..

So, we solat Asar, grab a bite, menghabiskan almost RM 50 beli mknn untuk 4 beranak (cos Nunun had her own food already). Si Chichi apa lagi, kalau outing jer, time tulah selera mkn membuak2..mcm sepuluh hari tk mkn! Geram betul..nampak ajer food terus rasa nk mkn....:(

Bought chocs, burgers, sandwiches, and several waters. Mcm nk berpicnic pulak dah. Nunun mcm tk comfortable dlm flight. lamaklumlah anakku, flight tambang murah (yg tk lah seberapa murah) dan kelas ekonomi pulak...meronta2 dlm flight..sempit. Bila take off, agaknya telinga dia sakit kot..dia jd restless.... bg toys pun tk nk, then asyik berdiri..tak nk duduk dlm flight sepanjang journey....aduh...penatnya mama mia.

Alhamdulillah, we arrived safely, and the it was a smooth journey. We arrived at KK at about 11.30 pm..so tired.....seharian dari pg ke sana sini buat urusan mana yg patut before bercuti. There was several people waiting for us...bestlah..layanan dpd pihak penganjur seminar. Dah malam buta mcm tu still nk ajak kitorang mkn lg..tapi apakan daya..mata mcm dh tak blh bukak. So we straight away headed to 1 Borneo...a new developing area in KK. We were placed at Grand Borneo Hotel.

It was a new Hotel...a 4 star hotel, not so big, yet so stylish and the best part is...since it's a new hotel, everything was clean and nice.

Ok. Will continue later.

Up and Running Again!!

Mama Mia..!!

It has been AGES since I last updated this blog. Guess I've been so cruel to myself, my kids and all the memories and moments that should be written here, so that it won't easily slip out of our minds as the days go by. Guess I should diligently upload all the things and experiences that should be shared here, so that, at least, it will benefit my own kids n maybe others too!

Where do I start and how?

Well, my life. This 2009 is indeed a busy year for me. Besides my studies, I'm also occupied with a project I ventured about 5 months ago. But alhamdulillah, since I have a domestic helper now, I can say that there is a striking decrease of stress level in my days. At least, the house chores can be delegated to the bibik.....especially the ones that I hate most, like cleaning the 3 toilets, washing the kitchen floor, ironing and lipat the bundle of clothes! Alhamdulillah.

She came after more than 8 months waiting, with the approximately RM 2800 paid to the agent, I'm started to feel that how much my burden has been gradually eased right now. So the maid is here, what should u do Mama Mia? Of course the answer is to focus on the studies (which I think I still need to put more effort to realize it).

Papa.

Papa is also becoming more busy lately. Almost every month, attending conferences and seminars all around the country and also to the neightbouring countries. Alhamdulillah...never thought he could gained this kind of achievement in a short time. But still, he really worked hard. (totally in contrast to his other half). And he has a very great teacher cum mentor, who honestly guides and supports him along the journey of academia. Being at this stage means less times spent with us. Nevertheless, the quality of time matters more than the quantity. Papa still can bring Chichi to nearby surau every nite to perform the solat, still can entertain Nunun every nite, hearing her giggling as he smoches her, still can teach Afafita reading the Qur'an. Guess I can't complain much on this. :)

Chichi.

Chichi is eight now, but he looks more taller than his classmates at this age group. He is still a very playful, clumsy and creative boy. He is the very same Chichi, who can't sit still for more than 5 minutes, who speaks out his thought without thinking, who asked questions that sometimes never came accross our minds. His quite so-so in the studies, always at the 7th place in the class after each exam; but despite that, I still believe he is quite a bright boy.

I observe that Chichi has grown a big interest on comic drawing. I happened to find some of his sketches n comic drawings. It was cute, complete with the wordings or conversations, and normally there is a certain story or message in the drawing (I should take some pics some time). I think he has some sort of talent in this area. But he need to be guided, who knows he can make good Islamic comics in near future?

Afafita.

The same sweet girl in the house. But beware, once u hear her laughing out loud, you will definitely want to find something to stuck in your ears. Alhamdulillah, now she can read Malay and English very well, can do several basic mathematical sums like addition and substraction, and memorise about 70 % of Juz Amma. She is definitely not like her big bro. She lacks of creativity but she is really a hardworking and diligent student. She won't eat or sleep unless she finishes up all her school worksheets. She will read again and again without complaining all the spelling list given by the teachers. That's my 5 1/2 years old dother.

She's very selective when it comes to choosing the clothes to wear everyday. Very "penakut", and the thing that she most scared of is the ANTS! So, funny, rite?

Fichita a.k.a. Nunun

My 8 months old cute lil baby. She's starting cruising around the furnitures such as the coffe table, the sofa, her siblings' study table; loves crawling and helping Mama mia "mopping" the floor; loves books but it should be highlighted here that she loves adult's book not the baby books; she can stand firmly; still doesn't know how to call Mama and Papa; has not yet grown any teeth, but nevertheless the upper part of the two teeth has shown a bit since last week; loves foolowing Mama whenever Mama goes; loves nenen or BF; knows how to clap hands whenever Mama sings "satu-satu saya sayang Allah" song or the famous "if u're happy n u know it clap ur hands"; open n close her fingers when others sing "twinkle2 little stars"....etc.
Never ending milestone and progress. BUt alhamdulillah.

Well...that's all the updates for the time being. Hope I can find some more time to upload some more pics and updates.

Sebab Rumahku Bersawang...

Bukannya Mama Mia tak nak update blog kesayangan nie..tapi ada beberapa sebab yg munasabah dan munasarawak yg menghambat Mama Mia dpd terus mengemaskan rumah maya ini.

Antara sebabnya:

1) Line internet yg hidup segan, mati tak mau.....susah nak upload gambar or video. Sesekali bila ada line, Mama Mia gunakan peluang tersebut untuk surf internet dan urusan lain.

2) Takder gambar or cerita menarik nak diabadikan dlm blog nie. - Dah berzaman tak gi jalan, tak gi bercuti, takda events yg best..hidup yg sgt monotonous , takder story. Everyday dok rumah...hujung minggu gi pengajian, gi tesco belanja brg dapur...jusco pun dah berbualan tak jejak...pergi holiday mcm org lain or picnic suka-suka pun takder....so?? (bg hint kat hubby nie)

3) Kesibukan yg entah apa-apa tah.....

4) Non Fichita yg selalu berada di atas riba bila Mama Mia online...susah nak menaip byk..setakat upload gambar blhlah...tapi gambar pun upload dlm FB ...

Sekian. Terima Kasih.

Cantiknya Ciptaan Allah...

Masa Papa outstation kat Indonesia..Papa sempat shoot some pics, pemandangan alam semulajadi yg cantik..Subhanallah.

Rupanya Indonesia nie masih kaya dgn kecantikan alam semulajadi, sayangnya keadaan politik dan kepimpinan yg kurang berwibawa..susah nk maju.

(kalau tak silap sunset ni semua di Acheh)

HAPPY BESDAY PAPAYA...

13th May was our dearest Papa's birthday. Yg ke berapa tu? hehehe...dh mula beruban lah jugak..tapi msh tetap ensem dn bergaya seperti dulu..just that he's a bit darker. (amboi bkn main lg ye critic org)

Since Mama mia didn't know how to bake cakes for Papa (we even don't have an oven), so Mama mia decided to order some cupcakes for teatime that day. 3 days before Papa's birthday, Mama mia ordered 16 cupcakes. The yummy cakes were delivered bout 5 pm that day, only half an hour before Chichi and Papa returned home. So, it was totally a surprise!

The theme of the cakes was "serious male". So there were specky cakes, tie cakes and books in blue and cream colours. Hmm....is Papaya a "serious male" like that? I guess so. ;) Infact he was more a serious person 12 years ago than now. (tk sangka dh 12 thn i know him!! tapi still mcm tk knl sepenuhnya)

Last but not least, May Allah bless Papaya with wisdom, health, love, kindness, and most of all...wealth (hihihi), so that Papa can belanja us all to Germany!!

Non lagi...dh 6 bln dah baby nie...

Non Fichita dh pandai angkat punggung, on all fours! kalau letak kt lantai...seminit jer dh kemana2 dia merayau2 dlm rumah nie...kdg2 jumpa bwh sofa, kdg terselit bwh dining table...maklumlah rumah kecik...situlah living room, situlah dining hall, situlah gak tmpt non bersemayam....

tgk anak dara mama mia...bukan main lg kan?
(sila abaikan scene kt belakang yg bersepah tu)

Senyuman tanda berjaya merayau -rayau

bukan tu jer...dh pandai panggil mama mia...tapi bukannya panggil "mama", dia panggil "aii".....geramnya mama

Eh mak anakku tergolek......cian anak mama mia

hah...cuba lagi..mcm ni lah anak mama mia..tak putus asa..

Muka penat lepas berusaha....heheh

hah....saya dah berjaya tau!!

April : No fooling around, loads of works and so kelam kabut

The month of April has always been a synonym to a month of fooling around. Donno where they got it from, or how on earth the 1st April was declared as the "April Fool Day", but most importantly, for us, this April was really a havoc and full of events!

So many things and event took place in this month. Well, I don't know how to start ..how to describe them in words. So let me start by recalling everything that I've jotted in my calender under the "events & happenings".

Firstly, CHichi's first term exam. Well, this is his first exmination in this newly so-called elite school. Mama mia didn't know the students' level of achievement in this school, particularly Chichi's classmates. Nevertheless, we did some revision, focusing on his weak subjects such as Arabic, Jawi and Bahasa Melayu. Alhamdulillah, the exam period went on smoothly. I guess he did quite well, he's the 7th place in the class...not so bad for Chichi and his playfullness. O yeah...not to mention, he surprisingly excelled in all the Arabic and Islamic subjects! Tak sangka betul.....

On 12th April, we went to PWTC, for the annual Smart KIds Exhibition. Honestly, mmg tak sanggup cos mama mia was really not feeling well at that time. But memandangkan it has became our annual event, and the kids kept on begging me to bring them to the exhibition, so nak tak nak terpaksalah pergi. Tapi...this year, the exhibition tk best sgtlah. cuma yg best...kita pergi booth petronas gallery, where the kids paint some batu sungai on their own, and the booth where we watched a show on the universe, stars n planets. if I'm not mistaken, by the UNESCO or whateverlah (teruk btl mamamia...short term memory betul!!)

Then..Papa..as usual..busy ngan ceramah, talks...bla..bla......the whole month. While Mama mia and non Fichita...masih dok terperap kat rumah. Maid tak sampai2....mama punya study pun entah ke mana entah!

On april also, Chichi's birthday! No celebration at home. This year celebrate at school jer....

On 20th April, Papa outstation ke Indonesia untill 2nd May! Punyalah lama....oleh kerana Mama Mia tak sanggup nak duduk rumah terperap ngn ank2 for the whole 2 weeks..Mama mia decided to balik kampung anak beranak! So kitorang pun berhijrahlah kejap kat JB tu....and Chichi pun terpaksalah ambil cuti 2 minggu...masuk pulak sekolah kt JB. mmm...tk pasal2 terbang duit...so kena byr yuran 2 sekolah...hahaha....padan muka mamamia cos penakut, tk nk dok kt rumah ngn ank2....

Apa pun...April was not a fooling aroung month for us! A stressful n hectic and chaotic month!

Happy Birthday Wafitos!!

Dah lama rasanya tak menulis tentang Wafitos. My eldest child, my one and only son setakat ini. Orang kata, anak yg sulung biasanya mempunyai hubungan yg rapat dgn ibu bapa. Based on my own experience, the eldest child in the family has always been more well-known among the relatives than other siblings. Entahlah, most probably because the eldest child's birth is usually more anticipated by excitement and welcomed with joy by other family members like grandparents , aunts and uncles, not to mention, the parents! Or there's also a possibility that parents usually spend more years of their life with the eldest child compared to the other children.

Ok. Back to Chichi a.k.a Wafitos. On 17th April, he celebrated his 8th birthday. Alhamdulillah, dah besar panjang anak mama mia ni. Memang makin panjang (tinggi) dan kurus. Muka pun dah makin ensem (heheh) dan nampak matang. (Nak cerita sikit ada ker cikgu kat sekolah dia tanya dia ni mcm org dari luar negara? buat mama mia perasan jer...hihihi)

A week before his birthday, Chichi had started asking me about his birthday cake. Actually, I had never thought of celebrating his birthday this year. It was not about buget constraints, but more to m.a.l.a.s. and "tak masuk kepala yg berserabut nie". But, since he kept on asking for a birthday cake to be shared with his friends at school almost every day, I decided to order a special cake for that special occasion.

For the past several years, Wafitos celebrated his birthday at my parents house with my siblings and of course my parents. But this year, since his birthday fell on schoolday, he couldn't celebrate it with them back at my kampung. Thus, we decided to order some nice and scrumptious cakes to be shared with his classmates.

This time around, I ordered 30 pieces cupcakes from cupcakedazzle, an online shop for nice, creative cupcakes. Chichi and I browsed the blog together and at last, after spending almost an hour we agreed upon ordering EPL theme cupcakes! Tak sangka anak mama dh besar!
Dia dah tak nak beli cake spriderman or batman or any other superheroes he used to adore like previous years. Now, he knows about EPL !! What a big boy he is now!

The cupcakes were soooo cute and creatively decorated, I took some pics but right can't recall where did I transfered those pics, (in which laptop, cos we have 3 laptops now at home). Will scout for them afterwards.

So, Chichi brought the cupcakes and share them with his friends at school. At home, no celebration at all, even Mama Mia also didn't manage to create a birthday card for him. Sorry dear son...Mama Mia was so busy lately. Hope u don't mind.

Mama wish u a very prosperous year ahead, semoga menjadi anak soleh yg beriman, taat kepada Allah dan Rasul, taat kepada ibu bapa, berjaya dunia akhirat dan bersedia memperjuangkan Islam dan Shari'ah.

Happy Birthday son! I love u soo much. You will always have a special place in my heart!

Blogging resumed...

Tapi masalahnya sekarang...dh mula bersemangat...tkde masa pula!!

Isy,,mcm2lah mama mia nie...

Non Fichita @ 5 months!

pelbagai gaya dan rupa....yg penting sentiasa comot dan bucukk jer...

Mia Fichita @ 4 months 4 weeks

Hearing your baby laugh is not only a joy — it's a sign that your baby is developing emotionally and socially. Have fun triggering a giggle by gently tickling those toes or thighs. Or develop a pint-size comedy routine by making exaggerated facial expressions and funny animal sounds, snorts, and whistles. Don't be surprised if your baby joins in with an ecstatic squeal that might catch your attention and make you laugh back.

Following a well-established nighttime routine, which might include a bath or a bedtime story, may help settle your baby to sleep. It's a good idea to consistently "sequence" your baby toward slumber, as in this example: Feed her, give her a bath, put her in pajamas, read her a book, sing a lullaby or play some music, and then put her down.

A beloved routine gives you and your baby plenty of time to connect and wind down. You may decide to alternate going-to-bed activities with your partner (you do the bath, he reads the story, and so on). Or, to give both of you a regular break, try taking turns, with one person responsible for putting your baby to bed each night.

Non Fichita....she's growing and toty!

(fichita almost 4 months 3 weeks ago)

(kat bouncer pun nak main angkat kaki...tgk tu!!)

Earth hour...we did it!

Alhamdulillah! We did it! Even though I was the one who eagerly planned to participate in this switching off the electrical goods and appliances project, but I'm glad that I did managed to get all my family members to participate in this historical event, as I see it.

That Saturday, we were at my parents house in JB cos my husband had a talk in a seminar that day. So, since morning, I had been reminding my mother, my sisters and my kids bout this earth hour "thing".

An hour prior the shutting down electricity, we prepared candles. At 8.30 pm sharp, I asked my husband to switch off the main power supply of the house....and suddenly....its DARK!! My kids, huby and I garthered around the dining table, with two burning candles. Under that low dim candle light, we spent the 60 minutes reciting the surahs of al-Qur'an, (the surah hafazan), reading them together aloud. (mcm nk masuk pertandingan tahfiz pl) Actually I never planned of spending the 60 minutes this way, but...I think it was the most precious, quality 60 minutes that we had ever had in a month! Never thought that this "earth hour" could be so beneficial to my family!

Glad that we did something good for the earth and for our family too!

Introducing solid food...

Ini merupakan topik hangat yg sering difikirkan oleh benak ini. Nak start bg fichita solid food ke? Ikutkan teori, we're not supposed to feed our babies other than mummy's milk untill they reach 6 months old. However, teori biasanya tk realistic.

Bila kita tgk baby kesayangan kita mcm "kebuluran", asyik mkn tgn sendiri, drooling sampai bsh baju, pantang nmpk mknn kita, asyik nk rampas dan msuk ke mulut, kdg2 mcm tk puas "nenen", terdetik di hati kita nk strat introduce solid food to her.

Mama mia in dilemma. Serba salah tk tau nk buat mcmana, mcm ank pertama jer pulak. Fichita mcm dh ada tanda2 blh terima solid food, papa pun dok bising suh bg gak, cos papa kesian dia mcm susah nk tidur mlm, she looks hungry!

So last week, we tried feeding her with some fruit puree. sukanya dia! sudu pun dirampasnya! lambat suap jer...tk sabar...menangis2. itukah tanda dia mmg dh ready for solid food? tapi, kami tk bg dia beras lg....setakat ni bg fruit puree..and pernah sekali bg dia biskut baby farley yg dh dicairkan.

Terjumpa plk article bout solid food ini. mmmm....dptlah sikit panduan.....

Introducing solid foods

When should I introduce solid food to my baby?

You can introduce solids any time between 4 and 6 months if your baby is ready. Until then, breast milk or formula provides all the calories and nourishment your baby needs and can handle. His digestive system simply isn't ready for solids until he nears his half-birthday.

The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that babies be breastfed exclusively for at least six months — though parents will attest that some babies are eager and ready to eat solids earlier.

How will I know when my baby's ready?

Your baby will give you clear signs when he's ready to move beyond liquid-only nourishment. Cues to look for include:

• Head control. Your baby needs to be able to keep his head in a steady, upright position.

• Losing the "extrusion reflex." To keep solid food in his mouth and then swallow it, your baby needs to stop using his tongue to push food out of his mouth.

• Sitting well when supported. Even if he's not quite ready for a highchair, your baby needs to be able to sit upright to swallow well.

• Chewing motions. Your baby's mouth and tongue develop in sync with his digestive system. To start solids, he should be able to move food to the back of his mouth and swallow. As he learns to swallow efficiently, you may notice less drooling. He may also be teething around the same time.

• Significant weight gain. Most babies are ready to eat solids when they've doubled their birth weight (or weigh about 15 pounds) and are at least 4 months old.

• Growing appetite. He seems hungry — even with eight to ten feedings of breast milk or formula a day.

• Curiosity about what you're eating. Your baby may begin eyeing your bowl of rice or reaching for a forkful of fettuccine as it travels from your plate to your mouth.

How should I introduce solid food?

A good rule of thumb is to start with rice cereal, which is gluten-free and less allergenic than other foods. First, nurse or bottle-feed your baby. Then give him one or two teaspoons of dry cereal mixed with enough formula or breast milk to make a semi-liquid. Use a rubber-tipped spoon when you feed your baby, to avoid injuring his gums. Start with just a small amount of cereal on the tip of the spoon.

If your baby doesn't seem very interested in eating off the spoon, let him smell and taste the cereal or wait until he warms up to the idea of eating something solid. Don't add solid food to your baby's bottle or he may not make the connection that food is to be eaten sitting up and from a spoon.

Begin with a once-a-day feeding, whenever it's convenient for you and your baby, but not at a time when your baby seems tired or cranky. Your baby may not eat much in the beginning, but give him time to get used to the experience. Some babies need practice keeping food in their mouths and swallowing.

Once he gets used to his new diet, he'll be ready for a few tablespoons of cereal a day. As the amount he eats increases, gradually thicken the consistency of the cereal and add another feeding.

How will I know when my baby's full?

Your baby's appetite will vary from one feeding to the next, so a strict accounting of the amount he's eaten isn't a reliable way to tell when he's had enough. If your baby leans back in his chair, turns his head away from food, starts playing with the spoon, or refuses to open up for the next bite, he has probably had enough. (Sometimes a baby will keep his mouth closed because he hasn't yet finished with the first mouthful, so be sure to give him time to swallow.)

Do I still need to give my baby breast milk or formula?

Yes, your baby will need breast milk or formula until he's a year old. Both provide important vitamins, iron, and protein in an easy-to-digest form. Solid food can't replace all the nutrients that breast milk or formula provides during that first year.

How should I introduce other solid food?

Introduce other solids gradually, one at a time, waiting at least three days after each new food. This way you'll get a heads-up if your baby has an allergic reaction to one of them (signs of an allergy may include diarrhea, a bloated tummy, increased gas, or a rash). If there's a family history of allergies, or your baby develops an allergic reaction during this process, start waiting up to a week between new foods.

Even though it's a good idea to get your baby accustomed to eating a wide variety of foods, it'll take time for him to get used to each new taste and texture. Each baby will have unique food preferences, but the transition should go something like this:

1. Semi-liquid cereals
2. Strained or mashed fruits and vegetables
3. Finely chopped table foods, including meat and other protein sources

When your baby has mastered cereal, offer a few tablespoons of vegetables or fruit in the same meal as a cereal feeding. Good foods to start with include sweet potatoes, squash, applesauce, bananas, carrots, oatmeal, peaches, and pears. All food should be strained or mushy — at this stage your baby will press the food against the top of his mouth and then swallow.

If you're feeding your baby from ready-to-eat jars of baby food, scoop some into a little dish and feed him from that.If you dip his feeding spoon into the jar, you won't be able to save the leftovers because you'll have introduced bacteria from his mouth into the jar. Also, throw away any baby food jars within a day or two of opening them.

Some experts recommend introducing yellow fruits and vegetables first because they're easiest to digest, but others advise going green from the start so your baby doesn't develop a preference for the sweeter taste of the yellow foods. It's up to you which route to take. Either way, don't leave any food off his menu simply because you don't like it. And stay away from foods that might cause him to choke.

If your baby turns away from a particular food, don't push. Try again in a week or so. He may never like sweet potatoes, or he may change his mind several times and end up loving them.

Don't be surprised if your baby's stools change color and odor when you add solids to his diet. If your baby has been exclusively breastfed up to this point, you'll probably notice a strong odor to his formerly sweet-smelling stools as soon as he starts eating even tiny amounts of solids.

This is normal. If his stools seem too firm (rice cereal, bananas, and applesauce can contribute to constipation), switch to other fruits and vegetables and oatmeal or barley cereal.

The new hutan bandar

(dearest mom with youngest sis n my kids)

Balik kampung kali nie....dihabiskan kat rumah je. Cos hubby went back home the next day after sending us safely to JB. Furthermore, my dad ada keje sikit...dpt contract mengajar for a few months, so..nobody to bring us "jalan-jalan".

Ada takder, my mum suggested me to bring the kids to the hutan bandar somehere besides Mutiara Rini (ayu..pasnie kita blh jogging sama2 kt sana eh). Tempat baru....not so many people know bout it...the trees are still small...that's why it was so hot there! Anyway...there are many "rumah2" mcm kt danga Bay....sooo nice.....kitorang asyik ambil gambar jer...and berangan2 nk buat rumah2 (actually some of them are more like gazeebo) mcm tu bila kaya raya nanti..untuk ank2 bermain dan untuk minum ptg sekeluarga...(but bila tu nk kaya raya??)

so these are some of the pics taken during our day out to the new hutan bandar...
